March 2025
Calling Us Home is Heading to the International Stage
Dear Calling Us Home Investors
We are pleased to share that momentum is building for the upcoming Calling Us Home Africa Tour. Our production team is fully engaged, with casting almost complete and logistical planning progressing smoothly.
The official announcement rolled out online, and via email newsletter, which you may have seen. Our announcement social media reel returned an impressive 18 100+ views on Instagram! The news was carried first on Broadway World and then in other local South African media.
The Calling Us Home Africa Tour took root as an idea to begin our international touring where the story begins -with audiences for whom this story is intensely meaningful and personal. This touring route and schedule is not often undertaken as most ‘western’ shows can get very little traction in the region - but we can.
Not only would the musical resonate with the potential audience, but it would be culturally and spiritually significant for the region as a whole.
The first leg of the tour, set for September to November 2025, marks an exciting milestone in expanding our reach to new audiences across Africa.
In a productive kick-off meeting held in New York, Director Peter Flynn and I initiated the onboarding and casting processes. The incredible Creative Team will also return to the production:
Alan C. Edwards - Lighting Design
Mark Malherbe - Soundscape & Sound Designer
Celeste Botha - Choreographer
Pei Lee - Costume Design
Renée Gamez - Music director
Milagros Ponce de león - Set Designer
Louis Minnaar & Werner Burger- Animation Design
Full rehearsals are scheduled to begin on 21 July 2025 in Cape Town, where the tour will debut. Rehearsal dates for Cape Town are as follows:
Rehearsals: 21 July 2025 - 24 August 2025
The production schedule for Durban is as follows:
Tech Phase: 25 August 2025 - 31 August 2025
Previews: 1 September 2025 - 4 September 2025
Performances Commence: 05 September 2025
Ticket sales for the South Africa leg of the tour are about to open, with further announcements on specific cities, countries, tickets, and tour dates to follow briskly after that.
We’re also thrilled to announce that we have partnered with PROSOUND, who will provide top-tier technical and logistical support to ensure a seamless, high-calibre experience for our audiences.
Many major cities across Southern and Eastern Africa have all enthusiastically invited us and indicated their willingness to bring our grand-scale musical to their audiences - but we have had to be selective in our choices. In addition, the tour includes three cities in South Africa itself.
Because of this unexpected uptake we have decided to split the Africa Tour into 2 phases across 2025 and 2026.
As of writing, Africa tour venues are as follows:
1st Phase:
Durban, South Africa
Bloemfontein, South Africa
Johannesburg, South Africa
Gaborone, Botswana
Harare, Zimbabwe
2nd Phase:
Lusaka, Zambia
Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania
(Kigali, Rwanda)
Nairobi, Kenya
Windhoek, Namibia
Cape Town, South Africa
Still further additional cities that have requested us to include them in our tour incl. Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Kroonstad, South Africa, Welkom, South Africa - amongst others. We are considering only those that can potentially provide us with a suitable return.
And After Africa
After the Africa Leg of the Tour the show will move forward onto its next international leg. Following touring venues and dates will be confirmed with you as these deals are confirmed.
Most importantly We are working with an America Executive Producer and various stakeholders to bring the show to US shores for the 2026 - 2027 Season.
The performance of our Agents in Europe has been far too slow for us - we have also become tired of firm promises that have not materialised. We have become deeply impatient and it is for this reason that we made the decision to independently move forwards aggressively into territories that they are not focused on.
They continue to assure us that they are moving forwards in Europe - but we will only share venues with you that are under our control or where deals have been negotiated by us. In the past we have shared news with you that they have assured us is secure and we - and you - have been disappointed.
The US tour is starting to take shape, with the following stops in Denver (Denver, Colorado Centre For The Performing Arts), Chicago, Washington (The Arena Stage), New Jersey (Paper Mill) already in discussions for the 2026 - 2027 Season.
We will keep you updated.
In-Concert
Alongside the full show Tour a beautiful ‘In-Concert’ Version of the show will be touring to cities and venues that we cannot take the full grand-scale production to. These are predominantly an additional income stream and we kick off end of April 2025 with these - the first one being at the prestigious Endler Hall, Stellenbosch.
This is an experiencial concert that includes lighting, costumes and live musicians. It is highly impactful, quick and inexpensive to stage. We have a number of locations and venues lined up.
You will all shortly receive your invitation to the first of these events - and here is a CODE for you to give your friends and family for discounted tickets:

Amateur & Schools Productions
In addition Calling Us Home has formally been opened for Schools and Amateur productions to commence in Europe. We have 14 requests so far which is a fairly substantial additional income stream that we can expect to be added from 2026.
The show is currently being translated into Dutch in anticipation of this.
Our team is currently working at full tilt on all our shows. Please note that in order to boost profits for us all we will be seeking as much sponsorship as is possible for the first leg of the Africa Tour and we may reach out to you for suggestions and/or referrals.
NB: Please note that full project Financial Overview Information (including preproduction spend as well as income projections) will be provided in JUNE and DECEMBER of 2025. This will be in addition to any income payout notifications/statements.
Wish us luck!
Warm Regards, Alice & The Team
Thank you !
