A Brief Introduction

A SHOW BUILT IN AFRICA, by the world...

At the heart of Calling Us Home is the eternal human quest for finding a place or a state of being, that we call ‘Home’…

STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL

As part of a very focussed Brand & Community Growth Strategy this coming year, we will be releasing a collection of recordings from Calling Us Home with guest stars - this is a precursor to the Cast Album.

Currently we are working intensively on these recordings (and will continue to do so as 2025 unfolds) - turning our Demos that we made as part of the Creative Development of the show into beautiful final Masters for our #CallingUsHomeFamily

We hope to make the rollout of these releases as engaging and exciting as we possibly can!

Thank You

>

this is our story of love, hope and home…

Grace, an African Princess - fleeing a devastating war in her homeland, arrives penniless, in the freezing, grimy docklands of an American city.

The underworld of this city is ruled ruthlessly by the evil gang lord Ivan who, after an unexpected encounter, has set his sights on Grace - her spectacular beauty has dazzled him!

But another has already captured her heart...

The street smart Rafael, a young construction worker with bold ambitions, is determined to win her love. But will his dreams lead only to tragedy…

Forced to adapt to a very different world, Grace becomes friends with Rafael’s feisty and reckless twin sister Isabella. Together they must survive and keep their dreams alive until Grace can find a way to return to her beloved homeland…

‘Calling Us Home’ Music & Show Extracts

Calling Us Home is scored for Full Orchestra (as well as a hybrid of African & Latin percussive elements, Guitars and a Jazz band) and a Cast of 24 (Ensemble in 6 parts) - it consists of 39 Scores in total and we have just included a small Demo selection below. Please note that as we are still within in the Recording process - where there are only Piano&Vocal versions / extracts / clips / Demos, Full Recordings will be replaced and added as work on them is completed and they become available.

‘Do You think about me?’

Music Video

'Do You Think About Me?' (Act II Scene 17) is a moment in Calling Us Home where all three lead characters, Grace, Rafael and Isabella have been forced apart and are filled with longing for something lost...

‘Fire In His Kiss’

Music Video

‘Fire In His Kiss’ Act II Scene (performed by Devonecia Swartz) is a short teaser single off the “Friends Of 'Calling Us Home' - The Album”.

Grace has just witnessed Rafael, being unfairly arrested for a murder he did not commit. Shocked she tries to tell the police that they have the wrong man, but they refuse to listen. Suddenly he breaks free from the policemen and pulls Grace into his arms and passionately kisses her. Moments later he is wrested away and Grace is left stunned and alone… It is in this moment that she realises she is in love with him.

Full-length Songs

These recordings are part of the collection ‘Friends Of Calling Us Home’ where well known artists record individual songs from the show as guests.

In the show this song is sung as a Quartet (Mother, Nelson, Grace, Lindiwe) with Ensemble and has full orchestral and percussion accompaniment. It is sung for us here by the legendary African singer Zolani Mahola. Zolani is an icon in her own time and we love this stripped back a’capella version that she has done for us.

Sung by our originating ‘Grace’, South African star Lynelle Kenned - this song is from Act I Scene 2

Please note that this Track has not yet been Mixed or Mastered as we are still currently in the process of recording and working on it. Sung for us by South African Musical Theatre star Jonathan Roxmouth. It is from Act II Scene 12
